going to black lake sat 5/20 anyone know if the crappies are biting yet.

We are going to black lake on 6-10 any helpfull tips would be apprieciated .

Sure, Black Lake is always a good bet for taking numbers of crappie, as well as plenty of hefty bass.
It has been consistently rated as one of the top lakes in the country for both of these species.

The crappies should be staging into a post-spawn pattern, moving off of
near shore structure, and roaming out into main lake areas -- like over drop-offs, gradual points, and at the edges of deeper weedlines (in 10 to 15 feet of water.)

I last fished Black lake 2 years ago, and took many good sized crappie.
I'm eager to try this lake again, perhaps over July.

The water is dark-stained, with pine tanins, giving it that deep black color
(hence the name Black Lake).

I would bring plenty of 2 inch fathead minnows, along with 2 to 3 inch pearl white twister tail grubs, and 2 to 3 inch soft plastic shad-colored swimbaits,
tipping 3/16 to 1/8 oz. jigheads. Use the larger sized jig hooks -- you'll hook more, and larger crappie.
