Thread: Green River Muskie

Wanting to know about trolling for muskie on green. I have never fished for muskie and have never caught muskie, need a little help

Get a GOOD lure retriever
I troll up here in Ohio. Caught my first musky 42 inches within the first hour. Have since spent 18 hours with nothing to show for it.
I try to troll over humps and along points. You want baits that float when you stop moveing, otherwise when you snag one or hook a fish and stop they'll sink to the bottom and get hung up.
We use down east rod holders and forty pound test braided line and at least an 18 inch steel leader.
You want to stagger your lines so you have baits running at different depths and distances from the boat, then if you start getting hits on one you can change the other lines to match the one with action on it. We usually go about 4 to 6 miles an hour, speed up and slow down occasionally. If we come up to a shallow bar I try to swing the boat so the baits hit the edge of it to stir up some mud.
This is how I try to do it, mostly from what I read in magazines or saw in videos or on musky websites. Hope this helps a little.
