The Quail Hunt!
Well I spend a good afternoon yesterday with a good friend and our son Trey. I think we ended up with about 35 birds out of 40 which ain't bad when I am shooting on the team. Trey did a really good job maybe not as good as he did last year on his first hunt but he still did good. Last year is was just about 1 shot 1 bird for him. I think my Benelli let him down yesterday, once or twice it took him 3 shots to land a bird. Of course old DW wasn't helping that much late in the hunt! I flushed the same bird up 3 times with the dogs and finally after 9 shots, (note I only had my 1187 Remington, not my Benelli M2) the bird died of a heart attack because he was laughing so hard! Look most of you wouldn't have admitted to this but even the best has a bad day or two!
I am really proud of the Trey, he is leaving his job as a deputy in Johnson County, KS and moving back towards Springfield at the end of the month. He has taken a job as a police officer with the Branson Police Department. So he will be closer to his future brides job and to Springfield. This will mean I will have a good quail hunting partner close by. Now if I can just get him into the boat and get him started crappie fishing!

Sounds like a great day spent with a good friend and family. 9 shots for one bird sounds like some of my old dove hunting trips.

Well then you are better than me because my dove hunting is about 1 bird for 30 to 35 shots!
