Can someone PLEASE give me ideas? Saturday, I was out on the Mississippi River. The boat was running like a top. I stopped at one of my secret spots for a couple of hours then when I was ready to leave, the motor wouldn't start, power tilt wasn't working, almost like the battery was disconnected. I did have power to my dash and GPS though. Change batterys and still nothing. Popped the cover and found a 30 amp starter/tilt relay blown. I changed it and started right up. I went to another spot. Shut the motor off for about an hour. Then the same thing. The 30 amp relay was blown. I was out of 30's so I put a 20 in started right up and ran for the ramp 7 miles away. No more problems. Got the boat in my shop and traced every wire in the circuit. Found nothing. Put a new 30 amp relay in and took the boat out Sunday. No problems what so ever. Any suggestions? Thanks

this is the second try in case it post twice. sounds like a loose something hanging down under the hood causing a short. tripping breaker. if you cant find it in a couple days let me know. it will be a bother but I will come get boat, motor, trailer, truck. and fix it for you no charge, it may take a year or two but dont worry I will test it three or four times a week then if I cant get it fixed you can come get it and you wont owe me a dime.
www.slabbuster.com check them out I use them and love them
Speck,
Pull apart the 10 pin connector from the controller to the engine. Should be on the right hand side towards the front. Twist the center section and pull apart and see if there is any corrosion in that plug. Had a similar situation with my Yamaha 115hp. Didn't trip the fuse, but acted like the battery was dead.
I hate to say it though. If it happened twice, then worked fine, then it'll probably be back at some point in time.
