Finally got back on the water. Some business trips over, NAP Camp over (Nana and Papa Camp for the grandkids).
Nothing special this morning - came back with 7 keepers. Big fish was 13".
Used white body tube with a yellow tail and a white crappie nibble. The bite was extremely lite and it seemed hard to get a decent hook set on them. (Any ideas on this would be appreciated). I did finally go to a #2 sickle hook and that seemed to help. Caught them in 17-18' of water down 8-12' all the way down to 7' of water and 4' down, all above or in brush.
Good fishing to ya all,
Bugman - will call you a little later in the fall.

Congrats, Mark! Looking forward to getting back down to LOZ Thursday evening and fishing for the first time in about a month. Thanks for the report and good work!
Regarding the light bite, it's something I often run into this time of year, as well. I have noticed that the light-biters tend to be the bigger fish, if that's of any encouragement. The trick, as you said, is gettin' 'em hooked. Good luck.

good job mark. the crappie up here are hittin extremely light also, but at least they are hittin.
That is a typical summer time bite you just have to wait em out when they start pecking, sometimes they feel like a bluegill biting.....try a #4 sickle and see if that helps.

I'm fished a long-shank #4 on the 2" wooly beavertail in July and that helped get it in their mouth somewhat. Good advice, Bugs.
