    Default Hot, Hot, Hot

Mr. Baker and I fished the first day of the Crappiemasters tournament today. Man was it hot. We fished the Grand. We had a pretty good day. Lots of 11 1/2" and 12 inch fish that'd on any other day be welcome additions to the livewell. As ususal, Mike dealt me out a good old fasioned ass whoopin. We ended up catching 70 - 75 keepers, the best seven weighed 7.53 pounds. That put us in 25th place, with the best bags coming off of the Osage. Richard ended up in 8th with 9.03 pounds from the Grand. I think the best weight was about 9.5 pounds. Had a great time, and will try it again tomorrow. All in all, I felt pretty good. Sure wish you could drink beer in the tournament, but oh well. . . Gonna hit it again tomorrow. Wish us luck.
Jim - Have boat - will travel.

Took my boys up to the Crappie Master's Rodeo. Both placed first in their age groups. #15 slip provided 14 crappie for them plus one big bass that fell out of my fingers. Four of the Crappie were keepers the biggest was 1lb. 2oz.

Minnows on 1/32oz jigs under a Frogg hair bobber.

I guess Barn Dog was right about me getting to practice the new fillet technique. I had to get my boys to catch some crappies so I could get some practice.

Good Luck DR and Baker. Hope you bring in 12 lbs to offset the 7.5.

Nothing makes a Crappie grow faster than almost being caught.
