Tough fishin' on the blood river in Kentucky this weekend as well. Only found nine movin' brush pile to brush pile. Fish were tight to cover. No color out performed any other color. Size wasn't that good either for us. Biggest seven were only 5.8 lbs. Gonna get our butts tromped next week if my partner doesn't find a good pattern sometime in the next three days. For me, just goin' nuts at work and home for the next four days chompin' at the bit to get back at 'em. Not a lot of confidence going into the two day Classic. But I've felt this way before and the winds of fortune changed direction and headed our way just before show time.
Hope my partner finds that pattern. 12lbs. for two days won't make it in the top 20 I figure.

I'm hopin so. Threw everything in the book at them except casting to brush piles.
If you need any sand bass, that's the lake to go to. Could've filled to 5 gallon buckets with them.

Wind of change blew through yesterday for my partner. He left the blood river and found 27 in two hours. Biggest were between 1.25 & 1.5. With the way my partner estimates, that translates to 1.0 - 1.25. No skill involved with his method. Stumbled across them. He's working the pattern again today to see if it repeats.
Again, I'm here at work in Missouri when my brain is residing in Kentucky.

He fished the area a little bit and caught smaller ones yesterday and not as many. He feels good about this new area, but is going back to the Blood River to single pole fish the brush piles we GPS'd on Sunday. With the cold front moving through and high skies, he thinks they'll be more concentrated and holding tight to cover.
With the amount of shad holding near and around the weeds in 1-3 ft. of water I told him I'd take the 16ft Capps and dip minnows around the clumps of weeds and check to see if some Hawgs are laying up in there. I know most crappie fisherman would never take the time to see if they are laying in there. We'll see if he takes my advice. He's a better fisherman, so I'll back up any decision he makes.
