    Default LOZ tips?

I'm debating on fishin LOZ tomorrow and Fri. Any tips or suggestions would be great. I've only fished there in the spring. I'm used to fishing MTL mostly in the timber, I know LOZ is not that type of lake. Any help would be appreciated.

I've been finding fish on main lake points and main lake cuts, brush is helpful but some points are holding fish without brush,if you can find cuts that have laydowns or some type of wood and is close to the channel fish it from shallow to deep there will be some fish there also try docks that are close to the channel or ones that are in the first half of the coves some fish have been 2' deep and some have been as deep as 12' over 18' of water.Chartreuse has been my best color but we've also caught a few on pink/white,yellow chartreuse and blue/clear,Jackpot caught several on blue and white down on the lower lake.....good luck and if you have any questions give me a call 573-793-6665

    Default Basic question, Bugs

This is probably a stupid question (not my first) but can you define the term "main lake cuts" for me? I'm trying to determine what you mean, location-wise, when you refer to a cut.

Thanks -- always trying to learn here.....

What i call cuts are small areas of shallower water along bluffs or rocky banks, they can be as small as your boat or as big as several feet wide by several feet deep they usually have shallow areas where part of the bluffs have fallen in or a bunch of rocks have slid in the water (rock slide) just look for knooks and crannys along an otherwise sheer bluff face or rocky bank and you'll find some fish year round, there's 3 spots like this within seeing distance of your dock find em and you'll find the fish.

Thank you, sir! I understand now. I'll keep my eye out for that type of setting when I'm fishing up near the dam/Gravois area in a couple of weekends and give it a shot.

    Thanks again!

Well theres good news, bad news, then some more good news. First I managed to happen upon some large crappie. 12-14". 7 total. Then for the bad, my boat decided not to start in the main channel of the lake. Not the best feeling to be out there with no power in a 16' bassboat when you have 30' cruisers flying past on both sides. After troubleshooting my motor problems I managed to figure out what was wrong and limped back to the ramp.

All in all it was a good day. Was only on the water fishing for maybe 1 1/2 hours. Had a blast, just finished fixing my boat. Headin down to Bennett Springs for a few days. Thanks for the advise.
