I can not tell you about a county lake however. On Truman / Corp run lakes the marines are leased to the companies who run them that includes the water area they are on and some times a given cove. The companies can treat it just like a residence and ask you to leave. The leases are from 15 to 25 years sometimes and they do have problems with people who run them sometimes. The corp says to complain to them and that will be cosidered when the renewal comes up. with this in mind they can call The local sheriff and Water Patrol to assist and you can be arrested. I know just does not sound right does it. I was fishing around sterret and they asked me to leave the following days I called the Corp,Sheriff,Water Patrol, Conservation and every one else I could think of. The above is the result. Just does not seem right does it??
Now on LOZ Ameron controls the lake to 662 you can fish anywhere including inside the wells of docks. You can not of course get on the dock. The conservation agents will even tell ya that you can call them if a dosk owner hassels ya.

jerk at loz
Glad to know someone else has problems. The wife and I were fishing LOZ with a co-worker of hers last spring - one particular cove (sorry I don't know exactly where we were, but we launched at Runaway2) and around many of the docks in that cove. As we moved out toward the point, this guy came down to his dock and you could just tell he was going to be a problem. I don't recall exactly all the words that were exchanged, but he actually threatened to shoot us if we didn't leave. Right before he threatened us, he turned on his lift motors to churn up the water and to spook any fish away. Needless to say, we did move on, but on a trip later, we again fished his dock - I think just to spite him

water patrol problems
I know for a fact you will get exactly what you give them. you get mouthy, and make threts. you gonna get cuffed and stuffed. now on fishing in a cove that is marked no fishing. I sent a email to the MDC and I got a nice response from them they said the corps does let dock owners on corps lakes to limit fishing close to the docks but the conservation dept. was not aware of any regulations that prohibit fishing in a cove that some person posted on their own NO FISHING IN COVE. I suggest all email to the MDC and share your concerns. they will listen and they will act. power to the people.....

up front,,,iam(not a lawyer)but just a old fisherman who has just about seen it all on loz,,but there is a Missouri law that states that while you are legally hunting, trapping, and FISHING,you may not be harassed,,,it is a class A misdemeanor,,it's in the mo/d.o.c regs----but usually it's best to move along,,to many other places to fish anyway---fuzz

I would love to have the problem of having to be selective on which docks to fish to keep from getting harassed. If only Truman had some docks. But I guess along with the docks would be more lake traffic.

Bite your tongue.
Don't need no docks and all the ocean liners that come with-em on Truman

I know thats right. I guess I will have to pitch between two cedars and pretend they are docks

You would think that with the $90 yearly fee that comes with fishing smithville you could fish anywhere you wanted. The guys that protect their docks... well what can you say they have nothing better to do than watch for people fishing their docks. I think they might want to get a life, and stop guarding their christmas trees.

Ain't thier tree's once they sink-em in the lake.:D I have had a couple of times on LOZ through the years that people have tried to run me off thier docks and threatened to call cops.I just tell to get to callin i will fish and wait for them to show up.They usually give up after a few choice words and me ignoring them.My dad in his younger days threw an anchor in one guys well and drug his trees out in the lake and said there now they aren't in your dock.LOL Bought went to blows there.:D But i bet the guy thought twice about threatening anyone else.
