    Default A Good Exhausted.....

    Well, I made mention in a previous post of my Dad making the run up here to Wisconsin after he and sister put a whoopin on the Twain crappie and here's our report in numbers and pictures after 2 1/2 days of scouring my Wisconsin waters.

    - Six species were caught (crappie, walleye, salmon, lake perch, bluegill and sheepshead (drum), some in more numbers than others;
    - Eight hours of sleep over the course of 3 days;
    - Three Wisconsin sunrises (sky breaks really early (4:15 A.M. or so) here); and
    - An undetermined amount of Bud Heavies were harmed in this adventure.

    Wednesday Morning - Started inland in search of a mess of big, cold water gills, crappie and lake perch with much success. Got into them good and only kept what we wanted.

    Wednesday Afternoon - Went out on Lake Michigan with my buddy up here and had our 3-man limit of coho salmon in 2 hours. We found the fish quick (you can see Milwaukee in the background) and at one point in time had five of the eight rods going off!

    Thursday Morning - Went back out on Lake Michigan however, she was not having it and decided to blow us off the lake at 6:00 A.M. with some solid 3-4' waves (and they were getting bigger). So, we trailered the rig and beat foot to Lake Winnebago in search of the toothy critters............ and we found them! Trolling was the name of the game after no takers on jigging. Haven't caught walleye that size and those numbers in a longgggg time!

    Friday - Decided since the panfishing was so good it was time to get my oldest (Alivia - 5 years old) on some fish so we took her out and she flat owned them. Casting, jigging and pulling them in with very little help from me (quite humbling).

    She did however, need a little assistance when this one decided to come off her nest and smoke her ice fishing jig.

    For those of you who haven't ventured up north.......... I suggest it.

    Holy Crap!!! Trip of a lifetime. As a side note, I know for a fact that you will trade some sleep deprivation for a fishing trip. Great job Robbie, Jeff and especially Alivia.

    We were sitting in 40' of water however, only fishing/trolling the first 5-7' of water. It'll be like this until early June and then they'll move out to 150-200' of water (equates to 10 miles offshore). Even then, still fishing that top 10' of the water column while running one setup for Kings much deeper.

    I know from experience those lake perch eat pretty nice. I use to go to Minnesotta every fall for a week or so to fish Walleye and we would also catch a bunch of those. Looks like a really fun trip was had.
