    Default Boat inspection time

Ice is melting off of the local lakes, and the itch is getting worse. This is the perfect time to start checking your batteries, oiling up the trailer hubs, tightening connectors, verifying electronics still work, and air in your tires are good, etc. etc.
Did my check this evening and found a dead starting battery. I would have been highly upset if I found this out on the water. Tomorrow I put new line on my reels. Have a good one guys and gals.

I did the same. Put new line on the reels yesterday. Change the lower unit oil today. Top off the batteries and made sure they were charged up and waxed the upper half of the boat. I still need to pull the hubs and inspect the wheel bearings.

I did most of my trailer and lower unit maintenance before winter hit. Did re-line some reels yesterday. Started up my engine yesterday with muffs and fortunately, it started right up.

Tidied mine up yesterday, re-rigged some of my rigging rods. Put batteries in my Ultrex remote, made sure it works. To the car wash to hose off the trailer & checked the air in my tars.
I have Vault hubs, good for 5 years without maintenance, I like 'em. I like my Merc 4 stroke 115 also, easy maintenance and it likes to go fishing. I'm ready and it's time.

The fishing is always great. The catching varies.

I got about as far as walking around it in the yard, too dang muddy this weekend to bring in garage. Should be able to bring it in today after work, need to service lower end and check everything out, load and get trailer license tomorrow.

I will be doing all my maintenance this weekend to prepare the new boat for its Maiden Voyage sometime later this month.

There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.
