Default Anyone fishing Smithville?

New guy here, just wondering if anyone had been fishing Smithville lately? Fished it every day last summer, but don't have a boat this year. Caught plenty of fish last year. Have been downgraded to "bank-spanking" a small local lake this year to get my crappie. Still fun, but nothing like Smithville. We flat wore 'em out last year night fishing. Would be willing to show a fellow how we catch 'em. God bless.

I usually fish Smithville but haven't moved the boat in a month... Sorry.
I'd be glad to have a fishing partner who has had success on the lake... Got a green light that hasn't been wet this year. I'm tied up this weekend but drop me a p.m. and we'll work something out.

Mark

From what I hear the fishin is good if you like 7-8" fish. You have to wade through about 20 to catch a keeper. Last trip out with the light I only had 3 keepers. But that was a couplke weeks ago. I just sold my boat, and I will have to rely on buddies who have room in there boats!!!!!! Hint Hint... Welcome to the site. Lee

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. As for the shorts at Smithville, there are ALOT of them. Don't seem to be as bad at night for us in the past. Haven't night fished this year, but did fish it one day in late June in our night spot and only managed nine keepers in a little over 2 hours. Caught over a hundred crappie, but ALOT of shorts out of those. Had a buddy call last night and 4 of us went up north to a Conservation Lake and fished for 7 hours today. We boated close to 400 crappie and kept 120 of the bigger ones. Average fish we kept was 10". Biggest fish was 13 1/4". Great spot to fish for numbers of fish caught for sure. Have been fortunate enough to fish it 3 times this year. This was the most fish we've caught so far. Great day to be on the water to fish. Will send you a pm ShortStorie. Glad you're tied up this weekend, will be in Branson trout fishing. God bless.
