Thread: Looking for a 40hp motor

Anyone know where I can find a good used 40 horse motor (2004 model or newer) steering wheel type?

Questions:

Need controls too or are you gonna keep what you've got now?

If you have controls, what brand motor you looking for?

Preference for 2 stroke, 4 stroke, DFI?

Got a price range in mind?

I have a 30hp Evinrude 1992 model that broke a ring. I've decided to not put the money into repairing it.

I would need the controls unless I find a Johnson or Evinrude w/o tilt/trim.

DFI, 4-stroke is preferred but $$ is consideration.

Performance Marine has a 50hp 2002 model for $2850 but my boat is rated for only 40hp. So, If I can pickup a good used 40hp for $2000-$2500, I may go the used motor route. If not I'll go ahead and buy a new one (but I'm kinda tight and would prefer to go the cheaper route).
