    Default Linecounters

Anyone use the add on line counters? Will they work with spinning reels? I am wanting to try pulling cranks this summer, but want to use the trolling poles I have. I found some line counter reels for $40, but I don't want to have to swap out the spinning reels I am currently using. Saw some clamp on line counters at BPS for $12. Sure would be cheaper if they would work. Someone told me they won't work with spinning reels.

I tried them and they don't work well with small diameter line 10# test and if you tightened them up enough to work with the small line a 300 bandit didn't have enough drag to pull the line thru them. I would save my money and just buy some linecounter reels. I just picked up a couple of them on ebay from Bretts place on the bay. Here is his website

I use the Okuma 20dx or the 15dx Magda Pro Linecounters and so far they have been great!

I agree with Slabologist, they don't work very well. I have 2 that I will let you use at the Sardis get together if you want to try them. Try this link if you want to get some linecounter reels that won't break the bank.
