Anybody use one and will they work on some of these flats. Right now you need to have jig almost at a stand still to get a bite. The wind ain't having it.

If they'll hold a 21 foot Bass rig with a 250 HP Outboard, you know they're hold most of the rigs everybody around here uses. Don't know anyone with one and never heard one operate in person. Man, they look like the cat's meow! But....have you priced one? Yoweeee!!!! You're looking at a smooth $1500 with an 8' model and a remote. Really wonder how quiet they would be and how fast they go from stowed to deployed.

I know of a company in LA - Foster's Trolling Motors that mfgs a version themselves that they claim is just as good, but at a better price point. Got no reason to doubt them as they are good folks, but haven't see a pic.

I would think you could get away with a 6' model, but as long as we're spending your $, I'd go ahead and get the 8' job.

I have seen a few on bass boats up here, but never got to talk to the
guys about how they liked them. Looks like for shallow fishing that would
be the ticket. I see 'em on tv on some HUGE bay boats, if they'll hold
up to that looks like they'd work on anything. Wouldn't touch bottom
where I fish most the time tho

ps Dondon, on the cranks - it's usually about this time o year when I start giving 'em a
try - but have a back up plan cause it's usually hit n miss for awhile.

For those of you so far out in the boonies that you don't get cable....check out the videos. Noticed Jim Duckworth has got a video on there.

Here's the link to Fosters that I was talking about. There's a pic of their "Power Anchor" on the front page.

I know a tourney fisherman that has one, he loves it. Ive seen it work, like WB said, it stops his 21' BassCat with a 300 on it pretty quick. I believe I would take that money and invest in a 997si and some chain.

If anyone would like to sponsor me, I'll volunteer to install one on my boat and give you an honest opinion of how it works.

I had one on a bay boat when I fished south of New Orleans in the marsh.
It worked great in the soft bottom.

I found hard bottom causes problems simply because the spike will not penetate and extend.

we fish out of Empire, LA a good bit for redfish and trout and all of the guides down there have them. they will hold their 20-25' boats in strong current and good winds very nicely.

the ones that I have been around are pretty quiet and let up and down pretty quickly.

another thing they use that I've thought about getting for crappie fishing is a cajun anchor. basically it's a 3'-6' stainless steel rod that they use to anchor with. they just stick it in the bottom and it works really well down there but I'm not sure it would work in our places with mud that is 4' deep.
