In case you haven't picked up on the posts buried in "Cranks at Sardis", there is apparently a new COE Boating Regulation that just surfaced.
As of June 1, 2008, all persons in a boat will be required to wear life jackets from the time they leave the ramp until they return (this includes fishing time), on all MS COE lakes!
There was mention of an "educational period" from June 1, 2008 to June 1, 2009, with just warnings, but I have not been able to find any information about this whole deal on COE websites.
The MDWFP is aware of the Regulation and were telling folks on Sardis over the holiday weekend when they did boat checks. Don't know what June 1 will bring.
Looks to be the real deal Pops. Dennis Reike, a moderator and employee of MSDWFP just confirmed the new reg with their law enforcement division.
Why is it that when it comes to government, the only employees that are highly trained, motivated, efficient and effective at their jobs are those that work in the Department of Stewpit Regulations?
Jeepers this state is going to the dogs.

Wannabe...v2.0
A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.
I really could see this for boats under way or people under 16, but sitting still and fishing?? This is really going to screw up my bikini gazing![]()
I guess we're all gonna have wife beating looking suntans now.
PROUD MEMBER OF TEAM TWEENER!
Like I said in the other pst, I'm all for it for boats under porwer, but for trolling speeds to sitting still or even anchored, give me a break. I'll have to learn the hard way....
Me 2. It won't be my first ticket and probably wont be my last. And this is the gospel? Even fer sitting still, tied to a tree, drowning minners? Boy oh Boy. Well my kids will like this. They think I should wear one if they have to. Reckon the auto pfd companies had something to do with this?
Minnerman
Take your kids fishin & like it. BBH Today
I looked at the belts last night in Cabellas. It's a type III. $65
Still gonna have to get a ticket before I change anything.
I wonder if it is all COE lake or just the ones in Mississippi? Does not make sense.
Seems to me it would have to be all of them. They banned those flying tubes a few years back and it was for all of them.
i think the whole deal stinks, i don't have a problem with wearing PFD when running across the lake, but when i'm fishn or on my pontoon boat pulln cranks at 1.7-2.0 mph, i'll have to get a few tickets before i join in
