Anybody got any recent reports from Wolf? Can you run a boat on the lake yet or is it still to high? How is the water color?

You can run a boat on it, but it is high. I was on it a week ago, before this last 6" rain, and it was still about 6' high and falling. I would imagine this last rain turned the water a little muddy and brought it back up. I haven't done much good since the rise started some weeks ago. It's getting about trolling time and I may go out tomorrow and check it out. If I get a chance to go , I'll holler back.
Bee was about 6' high Sunday and getting that milky look. Caught some in about 12 fow fishing on the bottom at mid-day.

I couldn't stand it, so I drove out and checked on Wolf. Water is clear on the west end and about 4' high. You can't see the ramp yet behind the store, but it would be no trouble launching a boat. I have a date with Wolf tomorrow. Wish we had a bait shop with minnows in town. Will check back in tomorrow in the P.M.
Fished wolf this morning...water high and it rose about 8 " this morning. No fish biting at all. With the river rising again, it will be awhile before fishing gets any good. Probably mid july or after.
Which river is rising?
Yazoo on a steady fall here at Belzoni, nearly a foot a day.
Went back to Wolf yesterday afternoon. Its about the same level as it was on Friday. Caught 2 crappie on the North end.... very small ones. Did find a few fish on the very south end. Brought home 11 keepers, caught them on crickets bream fishing of all things.
Were they females? Most of the keepers we've brought home were females with very well developed eggs for next year. Looks as tho we had a good spawn for this year. I see schools of crappie fry everywhere. First thought they were shad till I started cleaning some of the fish. They were full of baby crappie.
most of them were females that has spawned already. Did not catch a crappie on a jig....all we caught were on crickets and we caught only a few bream. Saw 3 folks in a boat catching them on red worms. The high water must have really changed things in Wolf...or for now anyways.
My grand daughter caught a lot of grub worms today. I might take them with me tomorrow and see if grubs are on the menu for crappie.
John how are they "developed eggs for next year" when the fish was at the house gettin cleaned?
