    Default The perfect boat

We all know it doesn't exist, but I'm rolling around selling my Stratos, which is too big and my War Eagle, which is too small and finding me a Goldy Locks boat that is just right.

I'm thinking 16 to 17 foot all weld with a 40-75 4 stroke. Want a drop front deck, livewell and some storage and I'm going sans carpet. I guess this will be more of a cross over boat rather than a true fishing boat as most duck type models from Tracker-Grizzly, War Eagle, G-3 etc come closest to matching what I'm looking for. I've been kind of sweet on Lake Sport I've seen on the web, but never seen in person. Plus, I understand the factory got taken out in a tornado, so not sure if they'll still be available.

Any thoughts on makes/models for me to look at? Can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for.

psst, Pattrick, hurry up and sell your boat and check your PMs and buy my boat so I can sell my other boat and buy a new boat. Lot of activity waiting on you and you seem to be the bottle neck, so don't be goofing off.

Hey wannabe, I'm not sure if you can get a Lakesport or not either. I got an e-mail from them saying they would be back up and running as soon as possible. I for one really like mine. It does a great job getting me where I want to go. I've got the TX-170 w/70 hp yammi. It even handled the ocean like waves at Grenada back in April. Good luck in your search.

    Default #1 LegendCraft

Legendcraft will build what you want. They built me a 14' 44"
mod V 100 gauge all weld in 2000. This boat has seen some
really rough water as I use it regularlyll n the Mississippi River.
I orginally had a 25 Johnson wich was the worst piece of equipment
I have ever owned. After a year and half and constantly being
in the shop under warrenty it was time for it to go!
I looked around compareing and deceided the 40 Nissan with T&T
was the way to go. I droped a 6" jackplate on the boat wich helped
eliminate torque on the tiller arm and could not be more pleased.
The hull has been flawless and will run in the upper 30's and handles
chop much better than a staight flat bottom.

The War Eagle 860 would be hard to beat. You way want to consider the Lowe 1754 as well. I had a Lowe for 22 years and never had any problems and I put it in some god awful crappie holes

Now wait a dang minute Averie. You're jumping in the wrong end of this trickle down economic theory. I'm pretty sure if I sold you the War Eagle first, we'd end up in a recession in about a week, then where would we be? Stratos first, then War Eagle, then the new boat. Now, get with the program. Heck, pay me enough for the Stratos and I'll throw in the War Eagle as a spare. LOL.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe it's a '97 15x48 (might be 96, have to check) with a front deck, 3 pedistal bases on front, gun/storage box, livewell, accessory rail, running lights, 25 HP Johnson with electric start all in mossy oak break up except for the motor. Got a MK 40 Edge and 2 FFs. Perfect for 1, fishes 2 great 1 front, 1 back and is OK with 2 on the front. Top end is 26.7 with one in the boat. It's a great boat and the best aluminum I've ever had, but just a tad on the small side for me if I step down to a 1 boat set up. Asking $27,372 but I've probably got a bit of room to negotiate. Nah, I'm not sure what I'll need out of it at this point, but I'm going to hold on to it until the Stratos goes. I figure with it's size - 200HP, it's going to take a while to sell. I figure the War Eagle won't take much, especially with it having a duck heritage and all the water we've got this year.

Here's a pic from when I bought it. I've changed a few things since then though. The crappy H'bird is gone, but not sure what FF I'll leave on the front. Added a little Garmin to the back, put in a bilge that is plumbed over the side instead of through hull. Added a motor toter. Added the 2 add'l pedistals. Brand new spare. Right now, it probably ought to have new tires, the prop needs to be cleaned up and I'm pretty sure I'm about ready to spin a hub, but all of that is pretty cheap, relatively. Motor runs like a top and all of the welds are solid.

Well shoot fire jimfish, I've got 3 of them at the house. And I disagree with your last statement strongly and I can prove it with my creel survey on the last 4 trips. :D

Seriously, you won't see me writing any checks to a bank anymore. I'm strictly a cash operation these days. Now, I won't call anyone a name (like fool, idjit, stewpit, dumb ore even stewpitly foolish dumb idjit) that goes out and finances a boat for 10, 20 or 25 years, cause that wouldn't be polite . No sir, I'll just say I disagree with it.

    Keep them models coming guys.

I think the 860 is a tad big for me yikes and prolly would take something at 90hp or above to really perform. I've looked at the online catalogue of the Lowe. I'm kind of sweet on the R1756VPT or the R1652VPT. Didn't see a 1754 though.

Checked out the Weldcraft too white bass. Looks top notch, but looks to be custom order boat for boat. $$$????

At this point, I'm trying to decide the features I can't live without and will prolly be looking to buy a used rig though.
