Was just wondering how many others were going tomorrow -
just looked at the forecast, and it's gonna be another beautiful day,
20 mph with gust to 30 WSW, a little rain to start the morning off also.
A little post-front thing going on, not to mention the doghouse effect of going fishing on mother's day
Oh well, I'll appreciate it all the more if I catch anything.

Can not catch a decent weekend. Monday winds 5 to 10 but I have to work. I am going to Lake Bolivar this afternoon if weather permits and fight the Gnats.![]()

He Jeff,
Come on up Monday or Tuesday. Winds supposed to be tolorable here. I put you on some fishes.
Shut down the shop a few days. You don't need the money.:D
Hey Tom, you know I'd love to, but better keep nose to the grindstone -
money, what money? OHHHH, you mean that stuff folks give us
and then we turn around and give all to the bank and power co. and
steel suppliers??? I wondered what that was all about :D
Man, that minnow-fishing 101 you gave me last Fall has really stuck with
me - I should be wide open pulling crankbaits by now, but I've still got
that hankering to drown minnows![]()

I got crappiehunter (Todd Miller) convinced it get the fishes. It is now his method, well it is probably his favorite method to fish. Been around me too much I guess.
On any given day, I can whup a spider rigger with just one pole in hand, especially when the weather gets hot.More poles ain't necessarily more meat.
More poles means more fubars to me.
We get together sooner or later, weather permitting that is.
Jeff,
I think Tom's been drinking that stuff in the dark bottles again. I gave him a spider lesson last month. I need a good lesson in trolling crankbaits. I would like to try it but do not know much about it. I would like to pick your brain and see how your set up is on the lake sometime. Todd
My lesson was "Hey Tom, watch them poles while I rig my minner pole.![]()
Didn't go over the weekend but did go today, Monday, and did the weather guesser on the aviation site mess me up on the wind, blew a lot harder than he said it would. We brought home 39, no pix and no measurements, they were not the best. Had maybe 1 14" and 4 or 5 over 12", most were between 10 and 11 inches. Spider-rigging, no hot color, maybe orange, and no special depth tho at the end of our morning we did catch most of the good fish in about 12-13 FOW. The wind got so bad at one point that we went up in a cove and fished some grass in 2-3 FOW and caught 3, 1 keeper. Not my cup of tea up in the shallows, don't know what I'm doing then, I like it out in the deep. Maybe the wind will die down and we can go again in the morning and find some better fish. Jeff, when are you going to start pulling?

Hey Todd, that sounds good. When and where ever we get a chance,
I'd be glad to get together and pull some cranks.
Steve, I've sort of half-hearted pulled a few times, but just haven't
stuck with it. It's plenty late in the year, should be working.
Something about having minnows in the boat, can't let 'em go to
waste, so end up fishing with them
Let me tell ya'll a tale of wind - went yesterday, got kinda late start
because sat up till after midnight watching the storms, seeing if I was
gonna get blown away or not...
Anyway, got over to CJ's and got a biscuit, started down to the lake,
(Little Bear) got nearly to the ramp and a big tree was down across the
roadtoo big to move, so had to back what seemed like two miles
up the road till got to a spot wide enough to turn around.
Ended up going to other end of the lake and finally gettin put in.
Started off spider-rigging, caught one crappie and some trash fish,
then the wind changed directions a little and it started blowing my
rods up out of the holders - 2 oz weights and all. Figured I was fixin
to lose a rod over the side, so put them up and got jig pole out
and tightlined one minnow. Caught four more crappie and some more
junk, I'm sure I missed lots of hits cause the wind would about take the rod out of your hand at times. I believe the wind made the forecast 30 mph and then some.
It was one of those days that I had to keep reminding myself
no matter how rough it was, it was still better than sitting at home :D
OH p.s. a big thanks to Olbigun, your advice really got me out of a bind with the ole lady-
stopped by Dollar General on way home from the lake, card and two roses
she wasn't even mad that I fished all day on mother's day.
You should start an advice column, like Dear Abby :D
