Good job. 16 is a good mess of fish!
Went out for about 3 hrs this morning and caught 16 keepers, 10" min., mostly 10 to 11 inch fish, no good ones. Most from6-8 FOW, a couple from 10 FOW. Not griping but could not pattern them, caught on everything from 2" Umbrella tubes to 1 1/2" tiny shad and all kinds of colors. I do think I caught more on tiny shad electric chicken than any other but not sure, had 4 different lures on my 4 spider rig poles. Surface temp down 6 degrees from last time to 74 degrees. A few looked like spawning fish with 3" shad in their bellies. Thinks the good times are a coming, just need to find the big ones.

You're right, Steve. We still need some cool weather for the fish to turn on. The ones I've been catching lately are still in their "hot water" mode, but getting shallower. If the water temp drops another 8 to 10 degrees, look out.
3 hours and 16 fish is good with conditions as they are.
I was not griping about what I caught, was pretty happy with everything but the size. Usually you can find the color/size/bait they are most interested in or it seems that they will show a preferance most of the time which is why I usually start out with 4 differant baits, some times it is a very strong preferance. Just today was different than normal unless I never got to the right one but I was happy with the catch. How do you folk get the pattern?Originally Posted by willsjwills

Well ,seeing as how I am a vertical jigger it takes a whole lot longer than trollers. I normally start out with a red or orange and char on one pole and a white or black and white on another pole then go to confidence spot and use both poles ( one in each hand ). Wich ever one I get the most action on , I just start adjusting from there.Somtimes I eng up with the exact color and size they want and somtimes I dont, thats fishin I guess. But that is how I always start out on my home lake.Originally Posted by SteveJ

I,too, am a one pole fisherman most of the time. I have my "go to" baits that I start out with, mostly chart., blues, purples, greens. I usually fish the same places most of the time, and you get into the habit of reading water color, sunlight, wind, and sorta know what color will usually produce. Sometimes I have to scramble and switch colors a few times to luck up on one. I can usually tie on a color that will catch one once in a while, but you get the feeling that another color might do better. Then I start changing sizes and colors.
Patern or not, you still ended up with a good mess of fish, Congrats on the catch.
You can't fish with a hung line!
When I am jigging (most of the time) if they ain't biting blk/chart red/chart or orange chart, I prob ain't going to catch them. When I am trolling, I start with 3 different colors and go from there. Only exception to my colors is if someone mentions a certain color at the bait shop or ramp. I might try it after my 3 confidence colors. More times than not, they are going to bite one of my colors though.
How's your fishin goin this week Patrick?i hope you're puttin a whoopin on some hogs.
