    Default Power trolling

Pushing double rigs of 1/8 oz. jigs and Roadrunners at higher speeds will require higher egg sinker weights correct? If moving at .6 - .8 mph, would 1 oz. work? Bigger? I use 1/2 - 3/4 for slow trolling. Want to make a couple dozen and thought I’d ask the pros first!

Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!

Same here, when fishing deeper than 8 or 10 foot I go to 3s.
I use a Kentucky rig 99.99999999999999999% of the time which allows me to change weights pretty quick. When spider rigging I rarely crank up and move, I just add weight and speed and troll till I find them, never caught em running 40 mph and no minners in the water.

Do you change anything from summer to winter or does it pretty much all depend on depth?

    I use 1oz weight's- .8mph with 2 - 1/16oz jigs, Let out 20' equals - 13/14' deep- using 8# Stren mono. Work great. If deeper I use a extra 1/2oz weight.

Can you scool us on the 2 to 3 oz swap? I can swap weights out quickly with the rigs I build. I use 3oz power trolling, 3/4 oz spiderigging . Is the 2 oz that advantageous in shallower situations? Geezzzzz.... just when I thought I had finally si plified some things in my life , you guys hit me with this !!!!!

2oz is good most of the time but when you start fishing past 10 feet deep the lines tend to get back under the boat, that's when I move to 3oz. Don't like to run line longer than my pole length, especially with guest on the poles. Out of my rig this past spring there were a bunch of slabs caught deeper than 10 foot, even caught spawning fish (eggs running down their tails when we held them up) fishing 12 foot deep.

I have and do use 1oz lead most of the time at speeds of .6 to 1.0 mph, but not fishing real deep, with great success. But as John said, if you want to go deeper/faster you need more lead. I move up to 1 1/2 oz to 2 oz. Works great. I've used 3 oz running fast and deeper but only when I can't get em any other way.

Let me add to what I last said. I use 1 oz at all slow speeds too most all of the year. I go to 1/2oz and 1/4oz in the winter and slow it way down when the bite gets light.
