My son and I went out yesterday for an afternoon of fishing on the Pearl River below Low Head Dam. We managed to catch 19 crappie, one 18 1/2 " striped bass.
We got out fishing round 2 pm and fished until 5:30. The fish were not biting very fast, but enough to keep the interest up and not leave and go home. After dressing the 19 crappie I had nearly 1 gallon of fillets.
Caught them on pink and white jig head with green body with chartreuse tail tipped with minnow.

Sounds good.............. has the water started to clear up, it was still muddy below the ferry?
What depth were they 13?

Chuck the aggrivating stuff.......... Just go Fishing!
Caught them in 12-13 feet of water fishing about 10-11 feet deep.
The water had cleared up a good bit.

Great to here a report from Low Head. I used to fish there in the early 80's with my Dad. Grew up in Lake, MS
There was a time when crappie fishing above the dam was outstanding. We had a lot of fun in Feb. and March in those old lakes off the river.![]()
