I am in the the side trolling method of crappie fishing. I mount my trolling motor on the side of my boat about half way between the front & the back & pull the boat sideways. I have made a homemade type mount for my trolling motor that works fair. Anyone got any ideas on making one or purchasing a mount for a trolling motor on the side of a boat. I would like to have a mount that the trolling motor would swing back into the boat when changing locations.
As always, thanks for the info....![]()

Hey CF, where have you been? Haven't heard from you in a while. Are you still fishing?
Hey Crappie Slayer,
Hadn't been fishing yet. Been hunting & now that's over, except turkey, & I am getting ready to fish. I have been reading the post daily, just haven't sent anything. Thanks for asking & I'll be sharing sucess and failures as it happens for me this year. I did talk to Gant today & they guided on Pickwick yesterday up towards the dam & caught 90 crappie in 2 boats... They said had several fish close to 2lbs. Sure makes me want to get out there. Have you been fishing any??![]()

I've still got one of the mounts Gant used to sell, been hanging
onto it for what I don't know, don't figure on getting into pulling again.
Anyone interested?

CF, several years ago I made up a TM mount for an alum. boat by using a piece of hardwood 2X4 just long enough to hold TM clamps and bolting it end wise to side of boat. I cut end of wood at slight angle to allow it to be level, and used two lag screws to bolt thru side of hull with a backing plate of wood or alum. on the inside. When you get ready to move, motor will swing up PARALLEL to side of boat and leave more room inside the boat. Some sort of simple safety chain or cable protects your TM against accidents (that translates into "fall in the lake").
I'll let cornith have first crack at it since he started this thread but if he doesnt want it i'd be interested...got any pics?Originally Posted by J White

I'm talking about - but it is not a very impressive looking rig.
In your hands it is even worse, pretty fragile die cast aluminum.
But, he sold a ton of them, and it works, just have to be careful with it![]()
At one time I even talked to Roger about making some new ones here
at our shop, but got busy and just never followed through. I was gonna
make it out of solid, machined aluminum. I heard the originals were going for
up to $300 before the supply ran out![]()
