    Default "HELP" Grenada Fishing Trip

Need help finding the right weekend to come down. We are looking at the last weekend of March as of now. Is this to early? Is there a better weekend to go? Anyone having any luck yet?

I'm not sure, but I think that is the weekend of the tourney down there. If you don't like crowds, I wouldn't go on that particular weekend. The first or second weekends of April should be OK also. We are having a camp the second week of April at Sardis... Hope this helps.

The first or secon weekend in april will be completely covered up with boats. Especially if we do not get any more rain

I went on a trip to Grenada last year for the first time and at the same time the Crappie USA tourney was there. I went because it was my first time and I thought I would follow the pro's. I think it was around the 23rd or 26th of March and it was too early. I went for 3 days and caught 2 fish...but no one else caught anything either. I think it helped to have the pro's there, I could see where they were parked, fishing and technique. It was fun.

Basically, know this: the lake is very shallow in spots. You can be running down the middle of a huge body of water and hit ground...I did! Thankfully, I noticed that the ripples on the water had changed so I cut it down but seriously, know this lake before going wot.

There is a great little hotel for $30 a night with a fish cleaning station, kitchen, etc. right before you turn into the park, it's about 1/2? mile on the East side of Grenada...can't remember the name for the life of me.

Take big gear. A lot of guys use 15-20lb test and 1 1/2" umbrella jigs with or w/o minnows. The water is like chocolate milk so don't worry about it. I caught my fish last year in 20' of water in the back of a cove. When I go again I would wait until the 1-2nd week in April but it all depends of course...it's fishin' not catchin'.

    Hope this helps.
