Me and this ugly sucker tango'd for a few minutes until I finally talked him into swimmin inside the net. I took his picture, gave him a big ole kiss on the lips and chunked him back in.

Kept 11 of his neighbors.

Yep...those Bowfin are fun to catch...nothing else fights like they do.

Yep, those are real fighters and I think the females most be one hellofa fish because I think are born the size of the one in the picture. Joking of course but I swear I've never seen a small one. Every one I've ever caught or seen has been as long as my arm. Some say they are good to eat. I hear the meat is white and flaky. I'LL NEVER KNOW!!!

In Tennessee that is a grinnel and it is funny when your buddy tries to lip it.

I have tried them in the past and they have straps down their backs that are pure white meat and very good to eat.

slimeyslab, if I ate one and it was good I would probably have a fit. I have released so many of those things or just cut my line. I guess I should'nt judge the taste of a fish by its looks huh? I must admit, I tasted gar and thought it was pretty good. Not good enough to actively seek them but ok enough to consume every other blue moon. I may give it a try. How do you prepare them. Don't you bleed the suckers first?
