Coldwater River below the Butla Spillway
Anybody ever fish the river right below the spillway. I was thinking of giving it a try tomorrow since the wind is looking rough. Any suggestions would be good help. Just looking to try a new place out of the wind besides the runout at Lakeview. Thanks

I have fished it many times but usually when there is good flow from the spillway. I have caught some pigs in there. Fish tight to cover along the bank and also be sure to fish the ditches that branch from the main channel. My best colors have been black, red or yellow and all with chart tail and pink head. Last but not least don't forget the net those river fish pull like no other. Let me know how you do!

Thanks for the info Tracker99. If it aint rainin to hard tomorrow I am gonna give it a try. I went by there today and there is some current but not much going through. It will beat fighting the wind no matter what. I usually turn to the lower lake at Sardis when the wind get's up but this year it seem's to be vacant of any decent Crappie. Will let you know. Thanks again

theres not going to be much water in the ditches if they got the spillway shut off you will have to fish the river itself
