    Default Fishing small creeks.

I've been doing me some 4 wheelering watching my creeks go down. The water is just about perfect right now for me to slip up to the edges of these creeks over here on the Hwy32 side of Enid.

What I'm wondering is whether crappie venture way up small creeks? I used to fish the Tenn-Tom with my daddy several years ago, and we would got up small creeks and off into little coves for crappie. But those creeks seemed bigger and deeper. I can start off walking in most of these creeks then watch it get deeper as I approach the lake.

Was thinking about packing my jig pole on the 4 wheeler and fishing the banks. Is that a waste of time? Not that I'm going to catch anything if I'm in the boat either...but I'm less likely to get snake bit in the boat.

I don't have a clue as to weather or not you will catch fish this way. However, I think you will have fun and learn a lot about fishing your area. You will then answer your own question. Do it. Have fun.

One of my favotite tactics is to break out the waders and jig small run off ditches and when i say small i mean small enough to step across. its really good when theres about a foot of water outside the banks and 2 to 3 feet in the ditch. Its like murder!!!

Wow, bigger. I never figured crappie would run that small of ditch. I should've I guess. I know I've caught them in a foot of water in the lake. Just never thought about them running up those small creeks like that. Wouldn't have thought about this year if I hadn't been riding the four wheeler by the creeks.

Well Jimmy it ain't all sunshine down here neither. It's rained the last two nights at my house, and night before last, the stinking drain ditch I'd dug filled in and then my house filled up with muddy water. It was a pleasure to wake up to that.

But on the bright side, it was so stinking warm yesterday that I was outside working in the yard with shorts and shoes only. That was a great change. Bit cooler today and supposed to be even cooler tomorrow, but sun is out and pretty!
