    Default Tell Me About Ratliff

Hey guys, fill me in on Ratliff Ferry. I know how to get to it and I have given it a look from the Trace. Is it a good crappie fishing spot. I have heard that the pleasure boaters run crazy up there. Do any of you fish it? Does it indeed dump into Ross B.? Help me out.

it runs right down in to the rez..ratliff ferry is actually just the name for that part of the river. there is a lot of trash on the banks thru there but the yahoos will run you crazy. the best thing to do, especially with the water warming, is to go in the backwater coves and fish them. you can do pretty good once the spawn really kicks in up there.

Thanks for that info. I will do that. This system rises and falls with the Pearl River right? Someone also said it was gator Heaven. Not really worried about that though.

Default There's some gators in there

that will scare ya even if you're in a 18 foot boat. If you'll go up to Lowhead dam and where the side channel joins up with the main river channel IF the river has been on a slow fall for a few days, you can catch them right there. Otherwise, try some fallen trees on the edge of the channel, ya might get lucky

Default Thats where I got that from LOL

Just know what I've BEEN TOLD about the trees but HAVE caught them where the river meets the side channel on more than on occasion. Also some HUGE Stripers in there when they start running. I brought home a 6 fish limit that weighed 60 pounds one day last year

There be some good fishing in places above and below Ratliff, if you're familiar with it. The oxbows mentioned previously are good as well as the river itself. The oxbow fishing can best described as, try one, if nothing develops, try one farther up the river. River fishing depends on how high the river is, how much current there is, and water temp. It's a lot of fun. I'll be over there Monday to try'em myself.
