I know that turkey season is opening this weekend in Mississippi and the crappie are getting close to turning on at Sardis Lake. I was thinking of combining a trip to Lake Sardis with a turkey hunting trip to Holly Springs NF in the next week or two.Talked to some helpful folks at Game & Fish. Any reports on gobbing activity? Appreciate any help. Thanks. P.S. I have a nephew and niece that attend Ole Miss so it would give me an opportunity visit them as well. Thanks.

Local turkey hunters (Grenada area) report some gobbling, but not much and didn't seem responsive. Guessing the cool overnight temps haven't helped much. Sardis end and Grenada have not turned on yet but I think they will start next week and definitrlely within two weeks. If you can hold off that long, I would if it's your only shot. If not keep an eye on the board for reports.

I don't even need gun. Not bein near as handsome as WB, I set me down in some bushes, start a callin, and then when they get in real clost, I jump out a screamin and yellin and 'ugly' them to death. Used to take my first wife along, but she tore em up too bad.
I hunt outside of Abbeville on some private property. Two groups went out on Saturday. One got on a bird but couldn't persuade, one group didn't hear a bird. I would imagine that if you are near the roost you will be hearing something. I heard them cackling all through deer season so...
