Thread: Enid 3/06

Fished Wallace Creek from the mouth back into the main creek channel then moved to Long Branch. Saw alot of fish on Sonar in the 18'-22' range but they had lock jaw. We ended up with one and a heck of a sunburn. It's been a long time since the sun shined so bright. It was nice being out there. It won't be long.

I fished Enid today too, launched out of Bynum Creek. There were about 6 other trailers there too which is a lot more than I am used to seeing at Bynum. I caught 4 catfish (up to 3 lbs.) 3 largemouth 2 white bass and a big gar all on minnows. No crappie but the best day I have had on the water in several months. Nothing touched my artificials today, they wanted the real thing and I caught most of them from 5 until dark.
Anyone know if Slyva Rena has minnows yet?
I have been getting them from Lakeview but I am pretty sure they are closed on Sundays.

I was at Enid yesterday afternoon looking at some property and drove down to the Chickasaw ramp. Didn't get to fish, but it sure looked good out there!

Yes sir. They got minnows. If I'm not terribly mistaken the old guy in there told me that they keep them just about year round, but they definitely got em now. That's where I've been getting mine.

Hopefully me and the wife will be out there this afternoon. Probably going to try Water Valley landing or might just do the usual and go to Long Branch.

Where were you looking? I live at Lake Estates off Hwy 32, and there was guy over here looking around. Didn't get to talk to him, but there are some lots available over here.

I was looking on the North side up around the Bynum creek, Chickasaw area. How far from the nearest ramp are the lots near you, and about what size and price are they going for?

Long Branch is the nearest ramp...and I'm guessing it's probably 1/2 mile or so from the turn of Lake Estates to the turn for Long Branch. That's a guess. It's not far.

As far as the size and price, the best I could offer to do is write one of the phone numbers down for you and let you ask. They seem to be different sizes.

Max, Deester and I are headed your way Mar 26,27,28th. Where is this Sylva Rena place for minners? If we stay at the cabins at Corrsar (sp) where would the minners be in relationship? We'll get you a PM closer to the date, and we'll get together for some 'boat food and refreshments'. Maybe this trip we can do the dinner thingy. You know, sit at a regular table with napkins and have some body wait on us. Boy, it's gettin close and my hand is starting that nervous little twitch like it's tryin to set a hook.

Gettin my boat back this Thursday with the new zoom zoom on it . Anxious to try it out.

Hey Jimmy. Yes sir we'll try to get that dinner worked out. Our only hold up maybe that we are working too much...we are moving our store into a building out in the Factory Mall. Figured we might have more foot traffic there, and we've got to be out of our current location by April 1st so we'll be busy little bees. BUT I'm betting we can have some dinner, drinks, and good coversation!

Sylva Rena is right on Hwy 32 East. From the the State Park, you'll just go back to 32, turn left like you're heading to Long Branch ramp, go passed the signs for both Long Branch and Water Valley landings, and the bait shop is on the right about 2 to 3 miles passed Water Valley landing. From state park, they are probably....7 to 10 miles. That is a guess.

I've been playing around out there on Enid...fishing some but mostly just riding around in the boat trying to figure out the fish finder more than anything else at this point. The temps out there have all been under 55, that I saw and the 55 was in a place that only I'd fish because it was basically on the ground: couple of inches deep! Nothing to tell you down here yet...other than there have been a bunch of small fish caught.
