There is a possibility that Thunder on Water would be interested in hosting a Crappie Tournament this year in connection with Thunder on Water. It would be the second weekend of June 2010.
What it would take is to get 50 boats to Fish either Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday.
The question is, what would it take to get 50 boats here for 2 days?
My initial thoughts are:
1) 100% payback minimum with sponsors (hopefully) pushing that higher....there is a good chance to have at least one big time sponsor supporting this.
2) Format - with it being June, the question becomes whether or not we can keep the fish alive...or rather, whether the competitors can. I thought about making it either a 1 pole, 1 fish or reducing the limit to 3 maybe. I think the format is really going to either increase or decrease the boat count significantly and might be the most important decision.
3) Payback - Would it draw more boats to load the payback up high or spread it down the field?
4) Entry Fee - $100 would make it a $5K T. Still affordable for the locals, but allows for some real money in paybacks.
Ya'll got any thoughts, I'd love to hear 'em.

Having fished all of the FJ's I don't think we have a prayer of getting 50 boats for a single day tournament much less a double by ourselves. We may be able to pull it off if we join with MCC or Shoals and have one heck of a tournament. A three live fish limit would be interesting. Either way I'm in.

Actually, this would be a non FJ series, kind of like a non-sactioned death match kind of thing.
It would be stand alone, sponsored by Thunder on Water and what ever other sponsors TOW could line up.
By default, I'm the committee chairman designated to find out what interest there might be in order to determine what kind of support would be needed by TOW and the sponsors to make it sucessful. In the meeting, it was decided that 50 boats for 2 days would be the target, so I'm trying to come up with a format/entry/payout that would draw that or close to it considering it's stand alone.
Ya'll speak up.

I like the 1 pole 1 fish, but that isn't going to draw enough boats. I think with a $5,000 payout if 1st was at least 50% and the rest spread out through the field, say place for every 10 boats entered, that would be good.

why would we want to fish during Thunder on the Water ? Sounds like planned maximum frustration.
If it is a single pole tourney , You can count me out !

Wannabee I can get 10 boats in it myself you will not have any problem getting 50 in, 2 day tourneys attract more boats than 1 dayers for some reason count us in
