We were spider riggin sat @ grenada and we came up on a school of gar....I mean them big ones 3-6 ft. There were at least 2 acres of water that was rippling from gar comming to the top of the water. It was like nothing I have ever seen(or want to see again). Long story short we broke 5 of our 6 poles off, and got the crap out of there.
Any of you guys ever seen anything like this????
I have seen that once in a creek that fed into the coldwater river below Arkabutla the entire creek was solid gar and you could ease in there with a boat and they weren't spooky. Didn't catch any crappie in there I wonder why???

Keep your line tight !
Down here in Ga. the gar spawn around the end of April...water temps hitting low 70's. Usually during a spawn there one big female with several smaller males all around her in just a pile of 4 to 6 garfish. I dont know your water temps where you guys are but maybe it is their spawning time?!? Regardless, if you guys know of any bowfishermen in your areas now's the time to let 'em in on where the gar are!![]()

pstone, you left off the main part.............did you catch any perch at grenada?
seen it at Tunica once.....they were just floating in the middle at the run out....the water was coming into the lake...the gar were just feeding on whatever was "incoming". Yes, they were the bigguns, looked like baby alligators or something.........
needless to say .....I just moved to another spot.........
