What happened was...
Me and the Missus was fishing. Nope, we did not catch any crappie but what we did catch was these aggravating little catfish. I'm saying about 6 to 8 inches long or there abouts. WELL as I was removing one of these rascals I forgot my catfish handling skills, and the sucker finned me on the finger. Funny right.
Yeah, so as soon as it stuck me, my whole left arm tingled. Then my whole left arm hurt. I'm talking about from shoulder to the tip of my ring finger. About 5 or 10 minutes the pain went away and I was able to make a fist again.
Now here's the crazy part. Every time I extend my arm my ring finger hurts a little and then goes numb. I mean completely numb like it has fallen asleep except it does it instantly. AND I don't have any feeling in the tip of that finger.
This ain't the first time I've been finned. Heck it ain't even the worst finning I've had. Shoot it barely even bled. This happened last Thursday or friday, and it ain't a stinking bit better. Sooooooo
What gives?
I'd go to the Doctor. May get a Staph infection. Only guess I have is it finned a nerve.

Don't know the specifics of your case, but I'd recommend being cautious and going to the doc.
A pilot in my old squadron (a yankee) had never really fished much in his life and went with some other guys from the unit. He caught a small channel cat and didn't know what to do with it. Long story short, he got jabbed in the meaty part of his hand and it got infected. He ended up having to go on meds for quite a while due to infection and was grounded from flying while it cleared up.
The funny part was that he got a new callsign out the trajedy (you know, like Tom Cruise was "Maverick" in "Top Gun"). His new name to every other pilot in the US military? You guessed it: CATFISH!
Try living that one down on an aircraft carrier!
I know a guy that got finned by a mud cat in a vein in his hand and his whole arm went septic in a mater of minuites, turned black anw had to medivac him out . Hes the only near fatality due to a mud cat as far as I know!!!
Stick yo jig in there!

Max, part of your problem is that it didn't hardly bleed. My experience is they need to bleed out. I got it bad last year and should have had stitches, but I bled like a stuck pig for about an hour. It stayed sore for several days, but was completely functional.
Seriously, the stuff that stayed in could cause you to miss some serious fishin time. Please -- error on the side of caution, and go get it looked at.
Back in the early 90's my sister almost lost her thumb from a crappie fin. She ended up only losing about a dime size place out of the side of it but she was in the hospital for 2 weeks.
Ihave always heard that when one fins you rub some of the slime on it and it will stop hurting, have tried it and it works. Would still go to DR.

That's basically what I've been told about it. If one of them fins you, you rub its belly on the wound. I'm going to have to give that a whirl next time it happens.jimfish

I suppose I'm going to have to not be stubborn and go ahead and go to the doctor. I'd hate to lose that particular finger. It is my ring finger and Jennifer would kill me if I had to wear my wedding band on my right hand!
WHEW! I'm glad I didn't have to get the helio in there. Our cellphones don't work out there, and I'd been dead long before I made it to a hospital. Plus I'd have had to drive myself cause Jennifer would have passed out.
Yes, I believe I may go to a doc.
