Default Sardis Thur. 8/21/08 And Summer

Slipped in a few morning hours fishing at Sardis yesterday between all this rain and thundershowers, and eventhough I got off to a slow start trying to locate fish on the bite I managed 12 fish over 15" in a spot or two over 24 fow across from Buford's Ridge....plus another monster cat that eventually broke one of my short rods at the boat. Thank goodness for lifetime warrantys. For you guys that like stats and precentages....those 12 fish put me over the 300 fish mark (for legal fish) and 110 of those were 15" or better (I might have stretched a few of those). That translates to this......21 trips to troll crank baits (had too much free time this summer); $600.00 in fuel; one oil change, $300.00 in misc. expense which includes but not limited to extra lures I didn't need, line changes and drinks/snacks for the boat; 105 hours of labor on the water and 115 hours of drive time. If I throw out the labor and drive time that totals up to be $3.83 lb for dressed crappie filets. I don't know if thats good or bad and frankly I don't really care because I've had a blast fishing this summer and I hope you guys have too.

Same numbers here, except with zeros on the end. $38,300 per pound.

I'd bet that's a quite low number truth be know. at $3.83 a pound, that's cheaper than steak and a heck of a lot more fun - Cows don't put up near the fight. LOL.

Wannabe...

More like 383.00 per oz. figure inthe cost of your truck and boat. I had deer meat figured out to about $400 an oz. You can by a black angus cut up cheaper than that. But its the fun and relaxation what counts. And besides who brags about a cut up cow.

I keep up with similar numbers as VHouston2. My totals for the year are as follows:

Total Caught - 1419
Keepers - 422

I'm afraid to calculate $/fish as it will probably make me throw up. My keeper average has come down since I changed lakes 3 weeks ago. Been fishing a couple lakes closer to home but catching much much bigger crappie. Will be fishing TC tomorrow. See ya on the water.

Haven't fished much this summer. Last summer I cleaned close to 1,000 fishing the months of May, June, and the first part of July. Had a shoulder surgery and a knee surgery that put me behind plus going back to work fulltime. Of course, those 10" fish were a lot easier to catch than the 12". Did manage to put a few in the freezer from the lower lake earlier in the year.

I don't try to keep up with those figures, don't want to know how much they cost per pound. I fish for fun and as tight as I am it would ruin the fun knowing how much they cost.
On second thought, crappie fishing is not very expensive if you do a lot of wading like I do. I also carry my tackle in a small bag or my pockets.
