Question Planer board questions....Pstone?

I think my aluminum boat might be a little loud. I want to get some distance between me and the lures. I've just about talked myself into trying boards. I'm thinking about running two at first to see if I want to deal with the extra hardware... I have a handful of questions though.

1) What type are you using? Single line/single release? (bring the board in with the fish) Mainline + fishing line with dual release? (fishing line drops off completely, mainline or rope to board)

2) how many are you using at one time?

3) how far are you letting them out?

4) Spacing?

5) what size line are you using?

6) are you using flags?

Thanks in advance for the info,

sbc

Jeff can tell you more than me....he's a pro.

1. We use single line, you unclip it every time in, and clip it back on everytime out.

2. We use 4 at a time. 2 out each side, and 2 lines strait back.

3. well, first you see how deep the fish are to determine when to clip the board (usually 50-80 ft), then we have been going 100 or more feet for the outside boards, and 50 or so ft for the inside boards...

4. If you get #3 right, spacing isn't an issue...play with it to make it like you like it.

5.We been using 12 pound with a 10 pound leader 3-4 ft in front of the crank...tied on with a swivel.

6. Yes we use the tattle tale flag kits. with tension spring in bottom hole.

You need to get with somebody that is doing it, learning curve is MUCH shorter that way!

Sounds like you've got it going on Pstone

nuthin' much more needs said about that!
the spacing, sometimes I'm influenced by how many water-lice
are running around, and how brave I'm feeling.
Haven't had it happen yet, but sure would hate to have one run
over by a skier
But on a good day, 100 from rod to outside boards, 40 to insides-
if I start gettin a little nervous I may shorten up to 75 and 30,
or just take the outside ones up till they go away.

If we had known that was you we would have stopped to talk.

Were you pullin cranks? We saw you catch a few. I can't say we did well at all. We hardly marked any fish at all. I suspect they are still up in cover where 101 has been catching them.

Any opinions???
