Default luvjign????

I need a recommendation on a 12v pull solenoid with about 1 inch travel. I gonna attempt to build a release for my TM. I don't really know the force needed to move the spring to release the Autopilot TM. I doubt if a door lock solenoid will do it. I don't know crap about tubular solenoids (except how they work).

Any suggestions? I gonna fall out the boat one of these days if I don't do something.

Thanks

Tom

Remember the fast-idle solonoids off of the old Rochester quadrajunks? They have a nice pop to 'em...

Not sure what kind they are, but the wingers we use to throw birds for our dogs have a pretty good travel on the solenoid. I can check, but LJ will come up with something

CP, type in part number 69905K7 here McMaster-Carr and you will see something that may work for you. The extended force is what's gonna be the problem with only 12v. This one has about 8 lbs. of pulling force "at the first 1/8" of travel". Gonna get weaker with further loaded extension. You can see the min. & max. load/travel on the specs here C125 Online Catalog | Newark.com

This chart shows their ability a little better DC Frame Solenoids from Guardian Electric Guardian will customize........might make you what you want if the other doesn't work.

Dunno......may have to put duals on there to get the pull. Or better yet, may have to engineer you a 1/16" wire cable, an extension spring, and a series of pulleys/tubing from your TM release latch to your outboard, and make your trim pump do the work for ya. Might be worth pondering over a cup of Folgers or a bottle of ripple

There's always a way

Thanks,

Pricey little boogers. Not much torque either. I might look at a r/c servo(RETURN TO ZERO) and do away with the latch spring. Maybe back up the servo with a not so aggressive coil spring. I just don't know. Maybe the ripple could help.

I got the solenoids bookmarked. Thanks again.

Hey Cane, while you're engineering, mind making me up a gizmo that'll take me right to the Crappie? I don't care if it's hydralic, spring loaded or solonoid actuated though, so let your imagination run wild.

People that can do stuff really tick me off. LOL. I'm stuck out here paying for every idea I come up with. Luckily, that's not a great expense though.

Wannabe...
