Default pushin crankbaits???

Well we are already venturing out from pulling to PUSHING!! When we were on the lake last week, we watched a guy doing this. He was kind enough to give us some answers to our questions but we cant seem to agree on exactly what he told us If I recall, he said he uses a 3-way swival with a 4oz weight. My partner thinks he said a 1oz weight and we are not sure of the length that the leader needs to be. Can someone help us resolve our difference of opinion?? Thanks

The size of the weight will depend on wind and current, etc. Somedays heavier...some days lighter. The length of the leader just seems to be personal preferance.

I run a 18" leader off a 3 way swivel.

I'm still tryin to figure this one out too - I've heard of weights from
an ounce up to... well, you probably wouldn't believe me

I do know that even with 6 ounces, the baits still push back under the
boat, don't know if that's just the way it works, or I'm going too fast.

I use 4 to 6 0z, slower speed lighter weight. Line needs a slight angle on it.

Did the same thing so I slowed down my speed. When I was pushing to fast, couldn't tell a fish was hooked.

What I found to work best so far is a 3 oz. egg sinker looped into the main line, and 2-1/2' to 3' above the crank, which is on the bottom on a swivel. 1.8 to 2 mph seems to work fine pushing Rattle Trap style baits, and shallow running crank baits (short lips). (#5 & #7 size baits) You can see the pole tips quiver, and that's telling you they're wigglin' and rattlin'. Been killin' them little'uns doing this......got tired of tearing their little throats and gill plates out though. Was gonna replace the treble with a single hook Saturday, but went to 1/4 oz Road Runners with 3-1/2" shad instead......same thing.......little'uns. Then my heat stroke came, and I gave up...

Thanks Jughead - I'm curious too, how DEEP are ya'll pushing the baits?

Most of when I've tried it is when I've been having to fish 20' deep to
get bit - wondering maybe having that much line out makes the angle/push
back under the boat thing worse?

I use line counters , they will fish as deep as you won't. speed needs to be enough for your line to run at 30 dregee angle. to fast will make the weight raise up.
