Default Horseshoe Friday

Maybe it was a late start or maybe it was just a bad day.....had a hard time locating the Crappie with crankbaits...... but no one told me there are monster Hybrid Bass lurking in the depths of that lake....I caught one and my brother caught one both just under 15 lbs by digital scale. What a fight on 4lb test.

I'm impressed, How long was the fight, how deep of water were you in,
what crankbait? Are you a "regular" at the shoe? Thanks

Wouldn't fit in the livewell...we took pictures and let the bad boys go back to either thrill or aggravate someone else another day.....I use to filet the smaler ones...not sure how one that big would eat.

Whitebass, With 6'10" UL drop shot rods and 4lb test the fight lasted inevitably about 15 minutes....took brother maybe a little longer to land his.....everytime the brutes would see the boat they would take off on a another wild, punishing run. Not sure if I would want to do that on a regular basis. Both fish hit a Rapala SR-4 Bluegill Shad Rap. We fish the 'shoe couple times a month.....usually fishing jigs around the deeper docks in a green Weldbilt with G loomis down both sides.

You can catch some green carp in that lake that are monsters too. I used to live there in the 90's and caught a few over 7lbs and 2 9 lb'ers on back to back days.
