Default 16 Ft Poles

WE USE 8, 10, 12, 14, AND 16 FT POLES IN OUR SPREAD. WE SEEM TO CATCH MORE FISH ON THE LONGEST POLES, ESPECIALLY THE 16 FOOTERS.

I've used 12, 14, and 16. They all work, but I can't see the difference between 14 and 16 as far as fish caught. That being said, the 14's are way easier to handle. I bought 9 of them last year....

Give ole Monk a call, that's who I bought mine from. Nice guy, and great shipping and service.

I use 16ft in the winter cause I am fishing really deep. I run 12 and 14's in the summer spider rigging and just easier to handle when fishing 9 to 15 ft deep.

If i didn't have any yet i'd make sure i had 14 ft's first and pickup 16's later, most of the water around here is stained and the need for the longer poles not as needed. That being said i have noticed slightly better catch rate on my 16 ft poles fished dead center front of boat than the 14's i have for the sides. That could have to do with the bait getting to the targeted areas first though.

Taylor I have a couple of 16 footers that I cut the first 10 inches off of so I can troll two crankbaits at the same time with a 1 oz weight holding them almost straight down. They work great but are a handful in a 16 ft boat.

Yea that is what i was thinking about doing. I just wanted to see what people thought about using them. I can get a good deal on these. They can hold 8oz without breaking.

My 2 cents....I bought 2 - 16 foot poles and I have to admit , the longer poles seem to catch more fish in my boat, I am one of those that believe in getting the bait as far from the boat as my tackle/rods allow. I believe that my boat is "too noisy" at times and I also think that the boat casts a shadow on a Sunny day down below that may spook the fish somewhat. Agree totally with the "trouble" of handling the poles, they are indeed a little cumbersome, but when they have crappie on the end of the pole, all of that concern kind of disappears.....I do plan to purchase more if that helps.....they seem to work for me so far...my .02 cents......

I use 14 footers front to back. Much easier to handle than 16 footers and can't tell that the longer poles make any difference. I catch just as many fish with 14's as I have the few times I've used 16's.
