Default Trailer tires

Would there be any advantage to putting larger tires on the trailer? The ones on mine are 12". Have room under fender for larger. Will be pulling 50-65 mph, some runs to Grenada & Eagle possible in the future.

MFB... I think it would help very much. I think the boat would ride much smoother, with less wear on the boat, plus your tires would not be turning as much, and would last longer.

I was putting a lot of miles on my boat fishing all over the country. I was having trouble with my regular trailer tires wearing out to fast, so I had regular 14'' car tires [walmart Douglas brand tires] put on, and that solved all my tire problems.

Putting car tires on, and a on board battery charger on the boat are the best things that I could done for my boat, best money return I've every spent on the boat and trailed.
Good luck..........crappie cowboy

I think it would be ok but I would go with a trailer tire. Dont go cheap, put on a trailer tire b/c they are designed with a load range and will last longer

Larger tires and wheels mean a smoother ride for your boat and you also get a lot more mileage out of your tires.

2nd and 3rd to the last two posts. Just make sure to get radials they will pull easier and last much longer than polys.

Thanks for all your replies. I also like the idea of the onboard charger. Can anyone give more details? Thanks.

On board charger is the only way to go. Money well spent.

I have a Dual Pro XL its a two bank charger and its 6 amps per bank. I have been using it 24/7 for four years now and its never let me down. Bass Pro Shops has them as well as a lot of the boat shops.
