Thread: Spider and Balsam Lake Today (10-19-08)

Went to Spider the first half of the day and ended up on Balsam.

Spider has some decent fish in it but I ws unable to find them?? Have fished it before and know where some of the spots are but no dice. That's the beauty of living/fishing in my area (Itasca County). There are plenty of lakes to pick from. Some days one lake is hot and another isn't, like it was today.

Big Balsam has a pretty good crappie population, as I found fish all over the place. The key, however, was to find the larger fish, which I did. I enjoyed a very good bite and never used a minnow all day. Sometimes I wonder why I bring them along?? The only downside to the trip was I was listening to the Vikings game. Wish I never brought the radio along!

At least they figured out how to score some touchdowns this week!
