Where to go??
Hey guys.... From Indiana here. A buddy and me are thinking about making a trip somewhere in Minnesota next year. Looking for any suggestions. Typically fish for crappie and blue gill. Any help on time of year would also be helpful. Looking for a place to stay that has cabin......NO lodge. Thanks anyone for your help. Chris

You could try Lake Tetonka in Waterville Mn.There's a resort that rents cabin's daily or weekly. It has bluegills and crappies along with pike, walleye, pike, white bass and largemouth bass.Their website is Best Point Resort in Waterville, MN
or..... you could try Cannon Lake sits on the edge of the town of Faribault Mn.Try shoreline cuts and on the weedy flats on the southwest corner of the lake for big slab crappies.Nearby there's other lakes that produce also so if any Cannon is'nt producing you could try French Lake for big bluegill or Shields Lake which boasts both species in the big sizes.Lodging can be found at Roberds Lake Resort and Campground - Faribault, Minnesota
which also has a lake you can fish.
Further north in Minnesota you could try Mille Lacs Lake that has big populations of Crappies, bluegills but is really known for it's trophy size walleyes, pike, smallmouth bass, and giant muskies.Lodging can be had at www.rockyreef.com
There's other areas too.Just pick one that best suits you.Look at Brainerd Lakes area,Upper Red Lake,Lake Vermillion,Lake Winnibigosh,or Lake Of The Woods in Warroad. There's also Crane Lake or Rainy River. All those areas have cabins to rent nearby.
Hope this helps....
