Default Fishing on the Rainy River

fished for a few days up in baudette...

apparently the walleye are all still help up at the mouth of the lake....still to warm for many of the big guys to start moving....

we caught our limits but the biggest was 5lbs, 2 oz. usually the trip between the 6 guys someone ends up with a 10+ lb'r...

we had a guy who'd never fished before and 20 minutes in he caught a 36" sturgeon....

the sturgeon were out...

caught a few smallies...

no pike

I was up there 3weeks ago and it was kind of slow. We did catch some walleyes and a few pike but not like we usually do. This was the latest we have went up for our annual trip......I'd like to try next year about the last week of OCT!

Default Rainy River...brrrrr

Just reading Rainy River makes me shiver.

As crazy as it is, it's certainly worth the trip. Our "dingy" got caught up in an ice flow that pushed us a long way before we were "freed" by some maniac in an 1850 Fishhawk thinking he was the SS Makinac or whatever.

I haven't been back up there since this trip. We caught only 1 walleye, but it was a good'un.
