Thumbs up Woods Results for April

First Teams tourney of 2017 written by Toby Ivey, a big fan of Leonard's Loser broadcast like used to be on Friday nights or Saturday mornings before college football games years ago. He used to give his thoughts on the upcoming games in a twisted sort of way. I really enjoyed the broadcasts. If you remember him you just might enjoy hearing this in a version like what he may of used.

They’s gonna be a clash of many titans today at the water’s edge we call woods resavor. It’s nothin more than a few acres of the elk riva backed up so the fly boys can cool they motors at the air force. Anyway, seventeen differnt sets of sailas all rolled in to the watas edge to collect 7 sac-a-lait for weighing in purposes. There were also 2 other anglin outfits lookin to snag some green carp for a weigh’n themselves. One of those gaggle of boats needed to head out at first light while the other bunch hung back till after we launched. It was obvious many of those sailers were very youg and green behind the ears yet so they waited at the dock for the coast to clear b4 setting sail.

As far as the speck chasers go, we managed to get launched Saturday but it was not as pristine as hoped for due to the local organic minner seller not gettin open’d at 5 AM as advatised. This caused many of our organic bait buyers to be back at the ramp later than planned as one them planned to be out front giving the OK to head out on cell phone time signal but he was not noticed due to the vast array of locals we started with. Anyway, we all got launched finally and the rest was sent to set sail.............................................. .........

About mid-moaning tho, they came some roarin sounds outta da sky and the winds picked up. It was apparent who the ones who were catchin fish was as they was the only ones not back at the ramp/pavilion durin the stoam. The wet weatha and windy conditions did die down some and the fishin did continue.
The aftanoon shore turned out nice as about each team of sailas did find a few fish to catch...............................
The day ended up belongin to the boys with a blast, TNT is they name. They set down they anchor in the waters somewhere tords the lower end cuz I neva seen em all day long no place I was. They ended the day with 7 craps weigh-in in at 8.37 pounds......................................

Takin second was the team of senior slab slayers, missin one his slayers. That did not matta tho as he caught the big fish of the day all by himself at 2.01 pounds. He did well for a sack full too as he ended up with 2nd place with 7.61 pounds.........................................

Takin third place was who I thought was the boys from down under, but they say they be The Plevna Boys. Either way, they elected to stay with organic bait for this day as well as did TNT & Senior Slayers. The Plevna boys had 6.61 pounds............................................ ..............

Taking 4th place on Sad-dee, was team BnB. They trolled they way to 6.49 pounds and a 4th place finish. They too went with the option of organic baits............................................. ................................................

Takin 5th place was team Two Men n a Jig. 5th turned out to be first loser as it took 1 more boat to pay 5 places. They too elected to go organic, thus not included in the jig only bonus. Only had 5.30 pounds in 7 fish but a live well full for big orange slab to clean once home.

Takin 6th place was a solo contestant I’ll call Team Lowes. He had 5.19 pounds on the day.

Takin 7th place was Team Monark. They ended the day with 5.09 pounds and $25 in they pocket. They 5.09 pounds was most weighed in by the NON organic using folks............................................ .................................................. ............................

Taking 8th place was team Slab Daddy’s. One of the Daddy’s was not able to make the scene so it was one daddy and one sub. They too went non organic and ended the day with 4.96 pounds....................................

Taking 9th place was a newby, I’ll call Team RH & Company. He can submit a different name if he likes as he’s brand new. He went the non-organic route too and came in with 4.61 pounds for weighing and said he also caught a boat load on the day. Was a pleasure meeting you Saturday Ricky Haynes. Welcome to MTCC.  .................................................. .................................................. ............................................
Taking 10th place was another solo member with no team name. I’ll call him Crappie USA….He was down one angler too & fished with the organic option & caught 3.86 pounds on the day.

Taking 11th place was a regular fishing solo I will call Team TR & Company. He did his part bringing in 4 keepers but needed a partner for the other 3 which would of helped him out. He came in with 2.92 pounds but headed home with some left overs from others and a big smile on his face. 

Taking 12th place was The Lip Rippers. They came in with 2.16 pounds all caught on non-organic baits. This was their first tourney and they seem like great guys. Welcome to MTCC men.

Taking 13th place was a team that did not submit a name to my knowledge. I will call them the Black Knights since they fish from a black boat. They too went non-organic Saturday and caught 1.67 pounds.

Taking 14th place was team RnR till I get another team name from them. They fished organically and brought in a nice fish at 1.16 pounds.

15th, 16th & 17th all had tough outtins. Two of these 3 teams caught fish but could not be at the weigh in due to leaving early or staying out longer than intended. Better luck next time to The Crap Shooters, EC & Company and Team C & R Crappie. All 3 these teams will be given 20 points. .................................................. .................................................. ....
Well that is it for this report. Hope to see you down at the devil's step ramp next month for more exciting action from MTCC. We shore expect a crowd.

Man that was awesome. I remember playing Leonard's Losers on the air back in my radio days. A little Leonard Post Toasties trivia...Word was around the radio biz that he always recorded the show in his underwear...Of course these days that would be nothing but in the early 70's it was considered risque even
for radio. Then rumors circulated about television newsmen wearing a coat and tie which could be seen above the news desk and shorts or less under the table...I think this became a Chevy Chase, Saturday Night Live skit. Anyway great job on the LL.
