    Default Feathers?

It's not about Crappie, or even about fishing. But it is about friendship and an invitation. As some of you might remember, today was the opening day of Dove season. Where I used to live this was not something I participated in for several reasons. Since being in TN I haven't missed an opening hunt, and today was no exception. The fun and comradarie (spell check) were super, and the birds flew. If you want to go, message me and we will do it. Or I will just hook you up with the site which is TWRA managed. 10 minutes from my house, and free with the proper licenses. Yes, I got my limit, but had an exceptional day and would still have this smile regardless.

Wtg bud. Glad you had fun shootin pressurized lead instead of pullin lead.Went fishing last night for a couple hours with Mr.John and I had battery and trolling motor troubles so it wasnt as fun as should have been. We still managed 5 keeper crappie a few more throw backers, a couple nice catfish, few brim and stripe too.

Skeet, Like I told you last night...the last time I went on a shoot was in the mid 80's and I shot 100 shells for 5 birds. Tell you anything? I will take my chances on the lake if I am able to go.

Ahhhh, the good old fashioned dove shoot. I haven't been on one in many years but fortunately the TWRA has one down the road from me. I rode by with my four legged buddy in my lap on the way to the garbage dump and all was well until that feller hid behind the sixteenth round bale of hay shot low and didn't yell low bird. Well, anyways, I ended up with two empty garbage cans at the dump, a peppered truck and a dog that isn't real fond of gunshots. LOL Hope everyone did real well shooting doves. I always was a breast man. FATBOY LOW BIRD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Skeet think this is the first season I wasnt prepaired for it.I been working so much and not even fishing.I had to stay over for a meeting on opening day and didnt even realize it.But guess I could have set on the front porch and shot some if I wanted but just hate to shoot them that close to the house and pepper my horses with lead....lol....:D

If you were to have seen me yesterday evening, You would have had a good laugh. I must have looked like the guy draggin his gun back to the car. Started the daybreak with high hopes at a friends field that had bird in droves on Tuesday. A dozen of us scattered around and waited. And waited. Dove now have e-mail and they all got the msg about this field. Maybe 30 birds fell from all the guns. So undaunted i hopped in my ride and went to another friends place where they were just finishing up. Sad faces there too. But maybe they would fly in the evening. This one was real close to home so that became the new plan. And as you know even the best laid plans go awry. 8 of us brought less than 20 birds out of the field when it was all said and done. With opening week over I can now get my mind wrapped around the Crappie and focus a little better. Hope y'all caught a few fish while I was distracted.
