Well between last 2 days last week and yesterday I managed to put a little over 500 specks in the kayak. Most of which were good size with a couple 14inchers. The majority of the crappies I am finding now are real close to or actually on the bedding area. Last week I found a ton of them in a little two foot deep trench that runs into a small bay where they spawn. The majority of them were right on the edge of the trench but a few were actually up on the 6 - 8 inch deep flat where they spawn every year. Yesterday we were fishing a canal off of Houghton Lake and getting some real nice gills and a few specks. The next week or so around here should be fantastic as the crappies start really flooding the shallows and the big gills get closer to spawning. Here are a few pics of my last couple days out.

I always enjoy your photos Frank. Good fishing!
Some of life's most precious memories take place in the presence of a fish.

Nice pics, I have not put up those types of numbers yet, the crappie are coming up into the beds but not in great numbers we only caught about a dozen on Monday. Mr Pike Mr Catfish and Mr Bass seemed to think i was fishing for them......silly fish.... Great job Frank!
thanks guys, and no I do not own a fish market, but I do have 3 sons, a wife wo all love to eat panfish. We do not waste any that we keep but I release a ton of fish. I just happen to be lucky enough to live in an area that is great for crappie. Almost every lake in the area is loaded with specks and when you fish them 2 or 3 days a week like I do it is not to hard to keep track of where they are and what they want to eat. As far as Hudson goes I am keeping my fingers crossed. I still need to get directions on how to get there and to the campground. I have never really been in that area so any help would be much appreciated. I have been looking at the lake map and have a few ideas where some fish may be located but I guess we will know when we get there. This week I only managed to get out 2 days and they were both fairly slow. Did manage to put about 100 in the kayak between the 2 days with a few nice 12 inchers just have not had time to post pics as I am at work right now. My panfishing will be cut to 1 day a week shortly as I am training for a 100 mile bicycle race the last weekend in July so as that day gets closer my training gets a little more intense, which really cuts into fishing time, but I guess I do not mind. I decided while I do the race for myself I would also like to help out someone else so I am also raising money for the United Way. They have made me an official volunteer and provided me with the necessary papers to raise pledges toward my 100 mile ride so it has put a little extra incentive into the ride which has made it worth giving up a little fishing time. Well will see some of you in a few weeks. Happy Fishing
