    Default Gun Lake (pictures added)

as of now I'm thinking of going fishing there in the morning, i always here that there some good fat pig crappie to be caught there and never fished it so this will be a big challenge fishing a new lake and a big bodied lake. If weather is good in the morning ill give a report on my fishing there . Now i need to get my map book out and do some studying

Scott, I'm assuming you're talking about Barry Co. right? Did you fish the south end of the lake and any of the humps south of the islands? Those are usually good places to find them.

    Default What a fun day

Got in the water around 7am , had to launch out of the camp ground because no one had unlocked Murphy point boat launch yet. I just got out of the channel and seen some good structure so i trolled by it and had my first crappie in the boat. Well the next one took longer until i figured out were they were at .

The water temp was 59 degrees and the fish were to be had at 12 ft weedy break lines, thats were i trolled all morning. This is a hard lake to fish unless you know it well , it has lots of winding drop offs. Managed to catch a rock bass and a hammer handle pike on my 4lb UL. MY bait of choice was a jig head with plastic grub, all colors were working well. I would say the spawn is near , most of the fish were males in the drop offs making there beds.

and other times you cant even catch a stinking fish , but its fun being out. and that monster fish i told you about kind of shrunk a couple of inches, i was kind of excited or just another fisherman telling stories :D

With all the fun I'm having this year all ready i might have to rethink my decision on the outing coming up.

went out tonight for a couple of hours, it was windy and hard to fish but still managed to take a nice mes of fish, i talked to another guy that was out the same time as i was and he said he got his limit. I did some moving around and found some good spots, when i was leaving the sky was looking like rain was coming .
