did you try the small bay on the north side just before the bridge?
I would think that the small point there would be good this time of the year as it has a steep drop next to the brush.

I really like the looks of the lake and plan on making it a regular destination.
that lake has been one I have been wanting to try ever since I moved to hastings.
when you said brush and crappie in the same post I was hooked! LOL
I have no idea why I love fishing brush so much , but I do.
It can be super frustrating, and often end up retying dozens of times in a day, but I guess it kind of gives me the same excitement as kicking a rabbit out of a brush pile!
    great job on those fish.

Yup, that's where I was John. Have the truck in the barn installing a Banks power pack system right now, so can't go back just yet.

I learned some pretty good brush fishing tactics from watching John one day at Hardy pond. Probably utilized in the south but, because I have never fished down there, I had never seen it done before.

Once I saw it, I didn't even need to ask questions as it made perfect sense to me. Instead of dipping brush and straigh lining your offering (especially when you have limited verticle movement) John was using a small float. I would have never thought of that and it made perfect sense to me after I saw it.

I use this trick all the time now when I am fishing brush piles or downed trees. Especially when branches are exposed above the water and I have to snake my rod up in the middle of them.

Is this a case of "I'm retired now and have to come up with projects to keep myself occupied"?
