    Steelguy,

There is no substitute for time off, I am well aware. Most of my fishing has been alone, due to my work schedule, then activities of my Children on weekends. Wrestling Tournaments, Marching Band, Water Polo, School Play's. With 4 kids, my time is limited.

Only recently with my Wrestler going off to College, has my weekends opened up a bit more.

Most of my fishing is done by "Chance" I keep my boat in the garage, loaded with gear, rods, tackle etc. Batteries plugged in fully charged, and ready to go.

If I get home, and the Kids are doing homework, or what ever, and I am not needed, the truck get hooked up, and I go.

Most people I know, get a phone, call, it goes like this.

"I am going fishing can you go?" I either get a yes or no, and its usually a no, due to scheduling conflicts.

Ready2Fish, his name sake was tested once, I called him on a whim, and he said, "Yes", and away we went. We were treated to a Wednesday night of 4 for 7 Salmon, on Lake Michigan.

The planned trip that I posted above, was started on a Friday about 2pm, and ended up with me in Skillets boat by Sunday 7am.

If you have an open slot, shout out any time, some one on here may be going,.........

I had a really great funny post typed up and then my fingers decided to hit the wrong button.

Speaking of Button... Nice usage of the term "Dirt Button". Can also be substituted with "Dirt Bunker" or "Chocolate Starfish"!

I don't think it is as much about time off as it is:
    A) Playing hookie
    B) Lying about my wearabouts
    C) Making up some illness
    D) All else fails, take the boss... Oh wait, I am the boss!

And on a side note, I have zero employees so... I boss myself around. Which basically equates to "I don't answer to anyone".

As for a new boat, I priced one out last night. I spent the next five minutes breathing into a paper bag while curled up in the corner of my cabin in the fetal position.

It's crazy isn't it,try going to Rangers build a boat, the price you come up with is the same as the dealer

    Jim,

Ranger, Triton, Stratus, Nitro, Skeeter, Warrior... for the most part, they are all in the exact same ball park on price. 70k minimum for what I am looking for.

Funny how my first house costed less than that. But then again, when new vehicles are 60k, why would a boat be any different?

I guess I spoke to soon. Nitro was the best value at nearly 75k... The ranger I priced out, 97k

I like fishing and all, but not that much!!!!

I have fished a lot out of a 2001 620 ranger, both just fishing smaller lakes for panfish and some VERY nasty days on the bay and erie.
I love my boat,(692 ranger, about the same as 619) , but the extra room on the 620 is about perfect without getting to big for the smaller lakes.
the ride is drier (full windshield) than mine, and smoother (I have the smaller individual windshields)
I plan on putting mine up for sale in the spring after fixing a few minor things, couple gel coat chips and new rivets in some hatch hinges, looking for 15k for mine, carpet is worn and it has been fished out of a lot, not as much the last couple of years.
really want bigger to haul grands and wife and kids.
more room, newer bigger motor etc , etc, etc,.
and NO WAY am I buying new!!!
looking at used boats in the 2002-2008 range
but need to sell mine first.
but my vote goes to the 620 ranger , perfect all around boat with the best ride.
am sure that size boat in warrior or stratos or nitro or whatever would be similar ride.
if I hit the lotto I will buy new

It will be interesting to see h I would much there boat sales get effected with the new Venus committee get out
