open water soon
Went out ice fishing this morning up in newago co.. this lake still had a good 12" of ice with sleds and quads running around. I can tell the ice is starting to die from the warm days we had and the sound of the ice cracking from the sun, there were some loud ones today
I'm ready for open water fishing, i had a blast this season ice fishing, don't think i missed a weekend of it but the bite for me hasn't been as good this year so this season will pass and cant wait till soft water fishing

I know I'm ready...and so is the boat I think. Done makin' off-season mods to the boat, now I gotta do a few things on the 5th wheel.

Greetings all,
They are launching boats and fishing Lake Erie. Bolles Harbor (Monroe) had five trucks and trailers in the parking lot last week. I have not heard if their doing any good though. I'm pulling my tarps off this afternoon and getting ready.

hope to get my boat out from under the lean to tonight(all snowed in)
I am going to install L.E.D. trailer lights and all new wiring.
also have some livewell modifications to do, and just clean er up.
may have to try for some of those early walleye down state.
at the very least I will hit the channels on houghton lake just as soon as the ice is out,did quite well there the last few years.
also going to hit the walleye on sag bay just as soon as the ice leaves, have never tried it before may before, but definitly going to give it a shot this year.

I just installed a set of the low profile Optronics LED tail lights from Cabelas. They mounted on my Trailstar trailer like a breeze. Fit right in where the originals came out.

jim, i cannot remember exactly what your boat looked like?
about 16ft semi deep v?
early in the year that would be fine for the bay, just have to watch the weather reports for high winds, and wind direction, anything out of the north east is BAD BAD. remind me around middle of next month , hopefull I can point you to some fish, the bay is full of them right now.
don, that is the exact same light kit that I ordered, going to move the boat into the garage tomorrow.

You guys are going to love your new LED tail lights, if you remember i did this last fall and they installed easy and been working great.
John,
thanks for the tips, ill give you a holler later

fishing for eyes is a blast. I have done some in the past, but not for a few years now. last time was a few years ago up on lake leelanau. kinda found them by accident, but they were nice eaters. my buddy and I tried for them up on the manistee from red bridge just north of tippy pond up to hodenpyl. we would do this right on opening weekend in april. that's one awesome river trip, but you gotta watch the logs, etc.
